6 countries were present to discuss workers and public services situation and RCEP’s implications on them. Among the countries present were Philippines, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and South Korea. They have laid down on the table their public services situation specifically on areas of healthcare, water and electricity.
The workshop also opened discussions on how Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) affect labour mobility. Participating labour groups have identified sectoral impacts on the public services and the corresponding response of labour groups to these challenges.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a proposed free trade agreement between the ten member states of the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and six states with existing FTAs with ASEAN. ###
